A residential area where security of those living within is ensured with guardhouses, electronic gadgets, gates and movement restriction for outsiders is commonly referred to as a gated community. Most people see these places as a haven for a lot of amenities that add comfort to the lives of the members. The need for such security measures in the earlier days was limited to celebrities, media moguls and industry barons, however now even those who are not them and just want the pleasures of life also come here to stay. The popular demand for this kind of communities is the main reason why we see an increase in their number.

And the number of people who have opted to live in these places have already crossed the 8 million mark since 2000, and that too just in the US. This means that every 1 out of 8 Americans have said an emphatic ‘yes’ to these communities. These communities also often center around a particular activity or hobby, but the one that has become very popular in recent times is golf. These gated golf communities tend to have higher asset values, providing amenities that are usually not available elsewhere and as a result, have been targeted by real estate developers as of prime investment options in the country. In most cases, maintenance is the responsibility of the local Homeowner’s Association and the residents and locals, and they do a good job for their own sake.

And in a golf gated community, you will often find members enjoying their game amid the maintained areas and the high security. This is possible because of the fact that they are continually protected by walls or fences, entry through which is routinely restrained. Here the residents need not be frisked or asked embarrassing questions – the problem simply resolved with the help of electronic ID cards that allow entry as soon as the magnetic tape indicates validity. When you compare them with other housing projects, you might find these communities costly and that is because of the high security and the better amenities offered.

Many people believe that only retirees live in such places, but that is not the case – you will find here newly married couples and even those with kids who come here for the many activities or just to relax. Usually you will find a golf course close to a gated golf community and the homes are extremely luxurious too – the presence of well maintained roads, community areas such as parks, manicured lawns and postal facilities make them great places.
